From Miranda Lee (2005)

To the members of the David C. Weber Foundation,

I wanted to deeply thank you all in financially assisting my continued study of foreign language at Vanderbilt University.  While there I took a Spanish literature class and one on Latin American culture.  Both were fascinating and since then I have decided that I will definitely be majoring in Spanish.  Next year I also hope to study abroad in Seville, Spain.  Thank you once again for making this all a possibility.

Sincerely,

Miranda Lee

From John Deppe (2004)

Ciao Signore Frezados,

Hi!  I have finally returned from my summer exchange in Italy.  It was incredible.  Over the mere six weeks, I learned so much about Italian culture.  I discovered things about politics, daily life, friendship, cuisine, dress, and of course language.  In time, I came to truly relish my new family and all of there cousins (because many had come for the summer, with dogs, babies, and all).

Anyhow, thank you so much for aiding me with accomplishing this dream.  Previously, you had mentioned something about a website for the program, and if there is anything that you would like from me for this simply ask because I am more than happy to help.

I cannot believe how fast the summer went, and that I am already home and preparing to go to school (tomorrow!)  However, I know that this summer I had and incredible experience, an experience I will never forget.

Ciao e grazie mille ancora!

John Deppe

The program helped study art and architecture in several Italian cities, something for which he took an after-school job at a local pharmacy to save money.
Tony, an honors student, has studied French throughout high school, as well as Advanced Placement courses in English, Economics, and Physics, and has been teaching himself Japanese after school and on the weekends. He has been a member of his high school’s French Club and Latino Club.
